. When you have a family of 3 or more, and need to create different soup stock flavors to go crazy with a hot pot dinner, this is it. We feed a family of 4 up to 5. Feeding 6 is pushing the limit, and way too slow for a dinner for 7 or 8. It doesn’t matter if you use a canister type or electric 1300W induction stove. The cooking is way too slow to feed a family of 5. We have 2 of these to feed a family gathering exceeding more than 5. After 10 sessions of hot pot/shabu shabu, I can truly give the review. Each eating session lasted from 40 to 70 minutes.Pro:* No leakage from one side to the other like the other cheap aluminum or steel that simply spot-welded along the separation flap. We went to many hot pot restaurants as well, and the same thing happened with those high-end restaurant models. Intermingle of soup stocks don’t taste right.* No leachate of heavy metal taste. Improper treated cast iron cookware tends to cause food to have a metallic taste.* Cleaning is quite simple using a green scratch guard pad, such as 3M. Clean it right away after each meal once the pot is cooled. Don’t let the soup sits in the pot for too long.Con:* If you use any acidic soup base, such as Thai or Sicilian, it will cause the patina to strip and you have to retreate the iron surface.* Washing and not drying the surface off immediately will cause rust, especially the bottom. By reseasoning the surfaces with multiple coats using sesame oil, the rust will be minimized for the bottom, and provides at least 2 to 3 sessions of hot pot with high acidity before reasoning.* It’s heavy! You drop that one your wooden/hard floor, and you’ll be spitting the words of the seasoned sailor. Accidentally drop that on your foot, and you’ll be singing in a different tune.Overall, we’re happy. We wish there are more variety of pot sizes to chose from to feed up to the 8 people. 36-in or even 38-in will fulfill that need. This 31.5-in is undersized.

. I have a few enamel cast iron pots, including a Le Creuset, so I’m no stranger to enameled cast iron pots and this one is definitely a keeper. Go easy on the high heat and this will fulfill all of your expectations. Made a spicy hot pot and had a none spicy side with zero mix. Stayed hot and nothing stuck to the bottom. Easy to clean and will be using it many times from here on out. A group of about 6 people can share this pot during a gathering. The pot itself is solid and I had zero issues with it. The lid however… Is a different story. The dye they used on the lid is not steadfast and I can’t confirm if it’s safe either. The wood is also ruff around some of the edges. I used a sanding sponge to smooth it all out and the sponge got all gunked up with residue. Ew. Then I coated the wooden lid in mineral oil and wiped it down until it stopped leaching brown residue. Still ew. Would I use the lid straight out of the box? No. After sanding it, removing some of the residue, treating the wood with mineral oil and removing more residue, would I use the lid then? Yes. I would highly recommend treating the lid before using it just to be on the safe side. Once I did, the lid was wonderful and it looks absolutely gorgeous on the pot. It also kept the contents from sloshing out when it was in the car, so the lid definitely did it’s job. Also, definitely use only wooden or plastic utensils in the pot. It can probably withstand metal utensils, the enamel feels pretty solid, but why risk it. Would I buy this pot again? Yes. It’s absolutely beautiful and definitely stepped up our hot pot night. I would recommend it!

. I was worried about other split hot pot pots because they weld the split in place and that’s a potential failure point which would cause the 2 broths to mix and the weld itself typically isn’t smooth which may make it difficult to fully clean. These aren’t things that I have to worry about with this pot because it’s enameled cast iron and the split is seamless just like the side of any pot. This pot is pretty heavy but that’s to be expected since it’s a pretty large cast iron pot. The enamel was slightly stained red on the side where we used a spicy broth but that doesn’t bother me. The wood lid has rough edges and was splintering a little out of the box. I only use the lid to cover the pot in storage to prevent dust from getting in it since I store it in the garage so I don’t mind.We used this with a portable induction cooktop and it worked but there was a small issue. I’m not sure if the problem is with the induction stove or the pot but one side would boil while the other was barely simmering.

. I had been using the 99 Ranch stainless steel one with the center divider bent in order to solder onto the pot that leaked and had the rust issues of a cheap item. When I stumbled on this one, I figured, what the heck. I have a few enamel cast iron pots. This item is on par with Lodge. It heats up and holds temp like you would expect from cast iron clean-up is simple with the enamel. And, best of all, I do not have to worry ingesting any more of the lead/ and rust from the old cheap 99 Ranch model!Like others, note that the wooden lid is odd. Since this is a lid will be used to cover hotpot with steam, I was just not comfortable, so I tossed it and use my wok lid. You won’t regret this pan, just get a 13” lid for it.

. When I opened the box and saw the wooden lid I thought I’d made an error: the lid is terrible and it was repurposed as a toy shield for my kids. The cast iron pot is wonderful! Thick enamel, nicely made. No issues at all with the divider like you get with cheap welded steel pots.Works with the Cuisinart Tasty tabletop induction cookplate for a superb hotpot/shabu setup.I also have Lodge and Le Creuset and this seems to be the same quality, for about 1/4 the price.A breeze to clean too.Excellent.

. We wanted a double side pot for our hot pot nights that didn’t have a welded seam (which often leaks). This pot really delivered. It’s heavy and retains heat well. It works nicely on the induction burners we use for hot pot. They’re not the easier to clean, but not too bad if you clean them immediately after use. Be sure to keep them seasoned and don’t use dish soap on them.
